The Zebra Danio
(Brachydanio rerio)
A very popular, easily bred, community fish coming from India. It is sad to
see so many inbred and twisted zebra danios in the dealers' tanks
these days. We could really do with a fresh importation from the wild to
give our tank-bred strains a bit of vigour. But I suppose this fish is so
taken for granted in the hobby that nobody considers it worthwhile bringing in
fresh stocks. I've heard a rumour that zebra danios tolerate cool conditions and
my own experience as that they will summer outside in warm temperate climates
quiet happily.
